Who we are

Clinical Psychologists are based within locality teams and specialist services in CAMHS in CCHP and work alongside multi-disciplinary colleagues with children and young people who are referred with serious emotional and behavioural or mental health difficulties.
Qualified Clinical Psychologists are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

What we do

Clinical Psychologists deal with a range of emotional, behavioural, developmental and mental health problems in children and young people.  Psychologists will undertake a clinical assessment to investigate the situation of the child, young person and their family.  Assessments involve a variety of approaches including interviews with individual children and young people, families and sometimes other people who are closely involved.  Psychologists also carry out observations and sometimes use questionnaires and psychometric tests.

Clinical Psychologists are scientist practitioners applying a range of theoretical models and findings from research to the understanding and treatment of mental health problems and developmental disorders.

How you get to see us

As Clinical Psychologists are members of multi-disciplinary teams in CAMHS, you may be seen by a Clinical Psychologist for either Choice or Partnership appointments.

Clinical Psychologists may specialise in certain clinical areas such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy or specific conditions such as anxiety or childhood disability including autism spectrum condition.  Clinical Psychologists may also offer specialist assessment services such as psychometric testing.

Where you will be seen

Most appointments take place at the CAMHS clinic in the locality where the young person lives, or in the main base of the specialist service. However meetings may be held elsewhere where this is indicated.
