Children's Therapy Service - Bristol and South Gloucestershire

Our Children’s Therapy Service works with children and young people who have developmental difficulties relating to communication, movement or functional skills. The team is comprised of Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists for children and young people aged 0 to 19 years, and Speech and Language Therapists for 0-4 years.

Our therapists work closely together to provide a range of services for families, including telephone information, drop in sessions and training courses, as well as 1:1 assessments and clinical support, depending on the individual needs of each child or young person.

How to refer

If you have a concern about your child’s language or communication skills, please call our Speech and Language Therapy Helpline, which is available every Wednesday between 9am and 12pm on 07825 016335.
If your child is under 5, you can also access drop in sessions in the community, as well as parent courses. When children reach school age, we provide linked services based in their school. If you have a concern about your child’s movement, or ability to undertake everyday tasks, please call our Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy Helpline, which is available every Wednesday between 9am and 12pm on 07917 393196. You can make a referral yourself or access a referral via an appropriate professional, such as your GP or school nurse, or your school. Referring a child already known to the service

Please follow the same procedure as above for a new referral. Take the time to explain how things have changed and what the new concern is. It is helpful to name your previous therapist - efforts will be made to allocate you to the same therapist, if this is possible.
