Changes to North Somerset prescription collections from 1 April 2020
Many of our Community Paediatrics and CAMHS families collect their medication from the Lloyds pharmacy at Weston General Hospital. However, from 1 April 2020 this service is no longer available.
Instead, from 1 April, you will need to take the prescription to a community pharmacy, which will give you the medication instead. You can find local community pharmacies on the NHS website. Some pharmacies might have different opening hours from normal because of the coronavirus outbreak. So please check before you visit by contacting the pharmacy in advance.
The reason for this change to prescriptions is because of the transfer of Community Paediatrics and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to Sirona care & health and Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership (AWP) on 1 April. These changes mean that the hospital pharmacy can no longer dispense community-based prescriptions.
How to get your prescription
If you attend a clinic:
- When you are there, you will be given a prescription from your doctor or nurse to take to a community pharmacy.
If you receive a repeat prescription:
- Community Paediatrics: Please call the team to request a repeat prescription at least one week before the medication runs out. The prescription will be ready for you to collect from Children’s Services, Drove House, Drove Road, Weston-super-Mare BS23 3NT. If you can’t get to Children’s Services to collect the repeat prescription, please tell the team. The prescription can be posted to a community pharmacy of your choice - let the team know which pharmacy you would prefer. You will be asked to confirm this when requesting a repeat prescription.
- CAMHS: If you receive a repeat prescription: Please call the team to request a repeat prescription at least one week before the medication runs out. The prescription will be ready for you to collect from Children’s Services, Drove House, Drove Road, Weston-super-Mare BS23 3NT or The Barn, Great Western Road, Clevedon BS21 6HB.
Please note that neither Community Paediatrics or CAMHS are able to post prescriptions to your home address.
If you have any questions, please contact the Children's Services team.
