NAS EarlyBird Programme South Gloucestershire

South Gloucestershire runs three EarlyBird programmes a year. The EarlyBird programme is written and licensed by the NAS (National Autistic Society). It is a weekly, three month course, for parents of pre-school children under 5 who have a diagnosis of Autism. It uses evidence based material focussing on understanding Autism, Communication, Play and Behaviour. It takes the form of powerpoint, videos, home visits, home videos and group discussion. There are places for six families per course.

Paediatricians refer families via ART. However anyone can refer to this service, as long as the child has a diagnosis of Autism.   There is currently a waiting list- families typically waiting 8 months for a course.   There are only currently four licensed EarlyBird trainers in South Glos.   Please contact the co-ordinator Wendy Parslow for advice on this service and referral queries.    Wendy.Parslow@southglos.gov.uk Telephone: 01454863458
