Bristol and South Gloucestershire School Health Nursing

The Bristol and South Gloucestershire School Nursing Service 5-19 years is available to all children and young people living, or at school/college within the Bristol and South Gloucestershire local authority area, as a first point of contact for advice and signposting.

Only schools which are local authority schools or academies or children educated at home will be entitled to further support and guidance following initial contact for advice and signposting.

Young people at further education colleges or independent schools will be able to access signposting and advice.  

 

Who the School Nursing Team works with:

The School Health Nurse works in partnership with a variety of professionals which includes:  

  • Community Doctors
  • Speech and Language Therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Barnardos
  • Off The Record
  • CAMHS (child and adolescent mental health services)
  • Children's Learning Disability Team
  • Lifetime
  • Family Nurse Partnership
  • Early Help/Social care
  • as well as children and young people services within the Bristol and South Gloucestershire Council and voluntary/community organisations.

 

Days/hours of service

The core service operates standard hours of 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday, but with flexibility to meet the needs of families. The service is provided all year round.
