Launch of Off The Record North Somerset service
We, along with Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership Trust, are partners with OTR, which is a mental health social movement by young people, for young people aged 11-18.
It was set up to support, promote and defend the mental health, rights and social position of young people.
Russell Lee, Business Manager for Children’s Services, attended the OTR North Somerset launch party on November 16th to celebrate the expansion. He said: “Sirona is committed to working alongside our partners OTR, Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership, North Somerset Council, Parent Carer Forum and Bristol North Somerset and South Gloucestershire CCG to enhance our mental health services.
“The event was great opportunity to come together as a partnership to celebrate the North Somerset expansion; the OTR service will be of huge benefit to the children and young people in North Somerset and we have already seen great engagement in the opening months.”
OTR provides group workshops and digital support to help young people cope with stress and learn how to build and maintain good mental health.
Wellbeing practitioners and Community Development Workers also work with young people in schools through one-to-one sessions, group activities and workshops to teach them strategies to enable them to look after their mental wellbeing.
Andrea Choules, head of School Health Nursing in Bristol, said: “School Health Nursing believes strongly in the importance of collaboration and working together with Off The Record to offer our young people opportunity and choice to access inclusive joined up services and not feel they are alone during these challenging times.”
